Welcome to Schools Beyond Screens - San José

We are a coalition of parents and educators advocating for school policies grounded in independent research, public accountability and developmentally-appropriate practice.

About Us

Founded by LAUSD parents and teachers, Schools Beyond Screens has now grown nationwide to 200+ school districts in 33 states. As the San José Chapter, we have a shared vision for tech that includes a data-driven, intentional, age-appropriate approach to technology in SJUSD and Santa Clara County classrooms. Our goal is to advocate for district policies that embrace responsible technology use, center children's cognitive and social-emotional development, and ensure that any technology adopted serves kids first, with benefits that are clear and evidence-based. Join us by filling out the member sign up form below!

Schools Beyond Screens San José seeks to work closely together with the school board as well as the district to develop a robust screen and tech policy in SJUSD.  We stand behind the Schools Beyond Screens Student Tech Bill of Rights, and are committed to achieving and protecting those rights for every child in the San José Unified District.
