About Us
Schools Beyond Screens is a coalition of parents and educators, dedicated to creating dialogue and providing support to teachers, districts, and families so they can make informed decisions about classroom technology.
The Fort Bend chapter of Schools Beyond Screens was started by local parents just like you.
Why This Matters
Research increasingly raises concerns about excessive or poorly designed technology use in educational settings, including effects on attention, learning, memory, social interaction, and student development.
At the same time, research supports the value of handwriting, print-based reading, discussion, direct human interaction, and other active, multisensory approaches to learning.
Our goal isn’t to eliminate technology from schools. It’s to ensure that technology serves education—not the other way around.

Take and share the School Device Impact Survey for parents, teachers, and school staff. The survey is anonymous, with the option to share your name or email.

Join us at FBISD school board meetings. We want to have a continuous presence at all school board meetings! Your physical presence is a vital tool. We also encourage you to express yourself by signing up to make a public comment - you do not have to be an expert! We've created an easy guide here for how to do so. Sign up to be a ‘captain’ at your school! Email SBSfortbend@gmail.com if you’d like to captain your school community! That role can be as simple as starting a chat group or sharing our flyer, or as involved as engaging teachers and administrators at your school on these issues.
