I was unhappy with the unresponsiveness of the current board to the community, especially regarding school closures.

Secondary students on specific STEM pathways must be exempted from technology limits as it is a part of their core curriculum.

Digital assignments tempt students to cheat through AI. This makes them less effective than offline direct instruction.

I fully support screentime limits for elementary and middle school, however High school students have such varied schedules that these limits would create logistical nightmares and negatively affect student access to accommodation or enrichment opportunities.

My primary focus will be making sure the board is more responsive to the community rather than moving forward with policies that are widely unpopular such as school closures and cell towers.

Running for the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees is deeply personal for me. As a proud product of public schools and a father of three children currently attending our local schools, I see firsthand the incredible potential our classrooms hold, as well as the daily pressures placed on our students and educators. I decided to step up because our current boards too often rely on outdated, top-down methods rather than listening to the people actually doing the work. I want to bring a fresh, community-driven perspective to ensure our teachers have the resources and respect they deserve, our budgets remain transparent, and every child in our district is given the support they need to thrive.

As a parent and a candidate, my approach to classroom technology is rooted in balance, student wellness, and listening to our educators. While technology can be a helpful tool when used intentionally, I strongly support establishing healthy boundaries, particularly for our youngest learners in elementary school. Overusing screens can impact student health and developmental growth. At the same time, we must maintain a balanced approach for older grades, ensuring devices enhance learning without replacing hands-on collaboration, critical thinking, and teacher-led instruction. Our focus should always be on supporting our students' holistic success and protecting classroom quality.

As a dad with three children in our schools and a former immigrant from Colombia, I know the incredible value of a strong public education. My commitment is simple: I will always listen to our educators and families first, protect our children's wellness, and bring transparent, community-first leadership to the board.

I am running for the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees because I believe FBISD needs leadership that listens to parents and the community, understands the challenges we face, and develops a clear plan to move the district forward.

The future is now, and we must achieve Excellence in Every Classroom.

FBISD is facing critical and interconnected challenges, including academic performance, budget constraints, declining enrollment, facility utilization, declining satisfaction, accountability and many other issues. As residents and parents, we cannot ignore these challenges or the future of our school district. We must step up to support our students, teachers, and staff and work together to build a stronger FBISD.

FBISD families deserve a school district that listens to them, works for them, and puts the success of their children first.

It is my belief that technology is a great tool for education, but we should find the right balance so that it complements, instead of replacing social interaction, communication, and hands-on skills which children need for their future.

My focus is on student success and results. That means listening to parents and teachers, seeking feedback, and making changes when results fall short.

With 40% of FBISD schools at C or D levels, 26% of elementary schools dropping a letter grade, and parent satisfaction declining to 62% (72% last year), we cannot be satisfied with the status quo. Combined with growing budget pressures and school closures, FBISD needs an honest assessment of the district’s current condition and a comprehensive white paper outlining measurable goals and a clear path forward and stronger accountability.

I understand the frustrations of parents and our community, and I am running to help them Restore Excellence to FBISD.

Running for the Fort Bend ISD board of trustees is driven by a commitment to bring practical problem-solving, unwavering transparency, fiscal accountability, and integrity to the problems at FBISD to ensure students, teachers, staff, and the community succeed. This decision is rooted in the need to protect public trust through responsible stewardship of tight funds, eliminate administrative waste, ensure equitable opportunities so no campus or student is left behind, and build vibrant neighborhood school environments that actively counter alternative school loss.

Screens have serious impacts on child development and overall health, preventing them from interacting with others, nature, and themselves. Knowledge and wisdom are best gained with direct interaction with teachers using traditional methods, books, pen, and pencil.
AI can be 100% restricted up to middle school, but for high schoolers and beyond, it accelerates learning and makes you more productive, faster, and more useful to everyone and everything. Experts who can use AI wisely can then share their techniques with AI beginners.

My vision is to position Fort Bend ISD as the premier, comprehensive choice for families by anchoring district leadership in 100% transparency, fiscal accountability, and practical problem-solving.

My Top Three Priorities:

• Fiscal Responsibility & Smart Resource Allocation: Conducting rigorous administrative audits to eliminate waste, manage tight funds, and redirect every possible dollar directly into classrooms and teacher support. Keeping community voices central ensures fiscal choices never compromise educational excellence.

• Equitable Access & Closing Achievement Gaps: Ensuring all schools feature well-maintained facilities, up-to-date technology, advanced classes, career and technical education (CTE) pathways, extracurricular activities, and experienced teachers so no campus is left behind. Directing resources toward targeted academic interventions and tutoring ensures economically disadvantaged students, English learners, and special education students succeed.

• Countering Alternative School Loss: Expanding specialized intervention programs and individualized support models to ensure families seeking specialized environments find comprehensive accommodations within public schools. Cultivating dynamic fine arts, competitive athletics, and robust student leadership programs turns neighborhood campuses into engaging hubs where families want to stay and grow.

Why These Priorities Matter: These priorities are essential because managing district funds with complete integrity protects public trust and taxpayer dollars. At the same time, addressing root causes of enrollment loss—such as safety, specialized learning needs, and real-world college and career readiness—guarantees that Fort Bend public schools remain strong, unified, and complete communities for generations to come
